Enjoyed preserved old centre. Fab Railway Museum, beautifully kept exhibits to rival York’s. Bought book ‘The Harvey Girls’ (women who opened the West). From 1880 to 1950s young single women from all over went to work in Fred Harvey’s restaurants along the Santa Fe railway at a time when there were ‘no ladies west of Dodge City and no women west of Albuquerque’ they went as waitresses but many stayed and settled. ISBN1-56924-926-1 Great book stuffed with photos – part of how the west was won – you’ll be enthralled :)
